SX24..."the" EVENT
We, the radio amateurs, don't need any particular reason to "play" with our "toys".  
Four years ago, in 2004, 125 SV hams all over the 9 GReek ham radio regions (SV1~SV9), activated the Special Calls SX../.. for Olympic Games "Athens 2004" for 100 days. Finally we managed a Log of 146.731 QSOs in 10 bands, 5 modes and 202 DXCCs, trying to pass the message of Olympic spirit "fair play" and friendship allover the world. Something alike is now. This time, seventy-three (73) hams from 14 to 22 June 2008, participating in a Special Call with prefix "SX24". meaning the 24 centuries from Alexander's the Great birth and for suffix, 21 Counties abbreviations of now days GReece, where archeologists discovered Macedonians Tombs and monuments. For example from Prefecture of TheSsaLoniki (Alexander's sister's name) the Call will be SX24TSL 21 Special Calls will be on the Air, from Olympia in Pelloponnesus (South GR) to Delos Isl (Aegean Sea) to Soufli (Thrace North East GR), giving you the opportunity to "play" with us and earn Awards and gifts. (Details on section "Special Calls" of this site)   ALEXANDER the GREAT (ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ ο ΜΕΓΑΣ)    Almost 24 centuries ago, in 356BC, a boy was born in Pella (ancient and nowdays city in Northern GReece), the capital of Macedon Kingdom. His parents Philippos and Olympias raised him as prince giving him efforts to become a King. His teacher was Aristotelis and as Alexander was saying: "My father gave me life but my teacher tought me, how to live with dignity".
